DeSoto borders Duncanville to the south in southwest Dallas County, with Interstate 35E running along its eastern side. It is a largely residential city, with established neighborhoods and plenty of backyard pools, along with newer homes in parts of the city that developed more recently.
Pool care in DeSoto follows the same rhythm as the rest of North Texas. From late spring through early fall, long hot days push water temperatures up and use up chlorine quickly, so sanitizer levels need regular attention to keep algae away. Summer storms add leaves, dirt and rainwater that can dilute chemicals and cloud the water. A weekly service visit keeps up with those changes before they turn into a green pool.
The clay soils common across Dallas County expand when wet and shrink when dry. For pool owners, that ground movement can stress pool decks and the plumbing lines that run to the equipment pad. If the water level drops faster than usual, or cracks show up in the deck, it is worth having someone check for leaks.
Older pools in established neighborhoods often have older equipment, such as single-speed pumps and aging filters. When one fails, many owners replace it with a variable-speed pump, which uses less electricity over the long run. A technician can also check the filter and plumbing at the same time, since older equipment pads often have several parts nearing the end of their life together.
